Contemporary consumerism is shifting towards the ‘Experience Economy’ where people want to ‘do’ rather than ‘have’. Blink Collective is an online global community where anyone can offer their skills, knowledge or services as an authentic ‘non-guidebook’ experience.
Listings on the website are both curated and user-generated. Bookings are managed by Hosts via the website and reviews offer trust and social proof. We solve a marketing problem for small business’ and offer a unique platform for individuals to monetize their passions.
The market opportunity is significant. In 2010 UK residents spent £44 billion on day trips and niche, sectors such as eagle watching in Scotland, generated £8 million.
Founder, Peter Kindness (previously founded http://MyFriendsHotel.com – an accommodation network with Hosts in over 50 countries) is a European Business graduate who has lived in seven different countries and he’s also been lost at sea and in the jungle. He lives for new experiences!
Other members of the team include a sales director and a developer.
Pete Kindness Biography
Pete is founder of Blink Collective, an online market place for activities. The website allows people to buy and sell unique and local experiences from the community. This is Pete’s second start-up and forray into collaborative consumption. His first start-up was MyFriendsHotel.com, which is accommodation network with hosts in over 50 countries.
Pete is a European Business Graduate with 16 years business experience. He has also lived in seven different countries, has been lost at sea, lost in the jungle and lives for new experiences!
When not working, Pete loves cooking, tennis, ski mountaineering, water sports and of course travel.
