What is Blink Collective?

Blink Collective is an online marketplace for experiences. We’re a global community where anyone can offer their skills, knowledge and passion as an authentic, ‘non-guidebook’ experience. In short, we monetize peoples passions and bring people together to make new lasting memories and learn new things.

 
How does the site work?

Listings on the website are curated and user-generated. Bookings are managed by Hosts via the website and through Guest feedback – reviews, photos and videos; build social proof and drive referrals. Payments are made through our secure booking system.

 
How does Blink make money?

Because listing on the website is free we only take money when a booking is made. We charge Hosts a 10% commission on bookings taken through the website and we charge Guests a £3 booking fee.

 
Why be a Host?

We enable passionate people to list and share their expertise and knowledge. You will get to meet interested and outgoing locals and tourists. You will also make money from the things you love, just by sharing it with others.

 
Why be a Guest?

You’ll get the chance to do something that you’ll remember for the rest of your life and almost certainly take away skills or knowledge you can share with friends and family. Also, being a Guest is a great way to get under the skin of a new city or to meet new friends in your own backyard. These are just a few of the reasons to be a Guest, as we hope you’ll find out, there are many more.

 
What is an Experience?

An Experience can be anything from sharing your talent as a photographer or your flair for interior design, to your knowledge of wines or your tour guiding skills. Start sharing your knowledge, skills and assets and get a lot more in return.

 
Can I add an Experience now?

Yes, click here! For quality control reasons we do curate the content that is featured on the website. This quality control applies to the types of activities being offered, the detail in the description and the quality of the images provided.

 
Is it safe?

All members of the community have to register basic details with us. Payments between Hosts and Guests are made via PayPal so we are able to trace members through their bank details should this be necessary.

Blink recommends that all members use their common sense and tell someone where they are going or, in extreme circumstances, abort their trip and get in touch with us as soon as possible. We do everything we can to ensure members are safe and we appreciate your cooperation to ensure we have a friendly, safe community.

 
Where does liability lie for the Experiences?

Blink does not take any responsibility for Host and Guest liabilities. We are not agents acting for Hosts, we are an ‘introductory service’. It is the responsibility for the Host to provide public insurance liability as layout by the law. Guests should enquire about public liability and alert us in instances where they feel that the law is not being adhered to.

We do naturally require that all Hosts adhere to the law of the land in terms of public liability insurance. If insurance liability is not a legal requirement we do recommend that Hosts seek public liability insurance both to protect a client or themselves in the eventuality of something going wrong.

 
Do I have to pay Taxes?

As with any money making venture it is vital that you adhere to the tax liabilities that you will be exposed to. Here is a link to the UK’s HMRC income tax guidelines. If you are running a business than income will fall naturally into you business accounting. If you are using this website to generate additional income then you will need to consider this income as part of your personal tax liabilities. Please seek professional advice to remain within the law.
